Stephanie Ann Ball, soprano
Stephanie Ann Ball, born in Mesa, Arizona, developed a love for music at a very early age. As a child and teenager she sang in many choirs and played the violin. Her passion for singing eventually led her to Northern Arizona University, where she discovered her desire to develop an opera career under the instruction of Deborah Raymond.
Ms. Ball performed several leading roles at NAU including Nella in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, Susanna in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, and Adele in Die Fledermaus. Ms. Ball has also sung with the Intermezzo Opera Program where she performed in two Offenbach operettas. In 2005 and 2006 she attended the Black Hills Vocal Institute where she sang the role of Bess in scenes from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, and Micaela in scenes from Bizet’s Carmen.
In addition to her performances, Ms. Ball has won several awards and competitions. While at NAU she placed in the top three for her division several times in the National Association for Teachers of Singing competition, and in 2005 Ms. Ball was an Arizona district winner for the Metropolitan Opera Auditions. She has also won the Shirley Winston scholarship from the National Society of Arts and Letters, and is the recipient of the Northern Arizona Opera League Scholarship and the Lloyd and Sally Hansen Singer/Actor Award of Excellence.
Ms. Ball recently returned from Frankfurt, Germany where she spent the fall receiving lessons and working with a coach to further her operatic studies. She is currently living in Phoenix and under the instruction of Claudia Kennedy, while preparing to audition for graduate programs.
