Tom W. Sitzler, baritone
A native of Mesa, Arizona, Tom W. Sitzler has been singing and playing piano at an early age. His love for music led him to Northern Arizona University where he graduated with two bachelors degrees: Bachelors in Vocal Performance and a Bachelors in Piano/Choral Education. Under the instruction of Deborah Raymond, Mr. Sitzler has performed in numerous roles at NAU, such as Betto in Gianni Schicchi, Bartolo in Le Nozze di Figaro, Frank in Die Zauberfloete, Der Tod in Der Kaiser von Atlantis, and Leporello in Don Giovanni.
In the summer of 2006, Mr. Sitzler attended the Johanna Meier Summer Opera Institute in South Dakota where he performed in scenes as Escamillo in Carmen and The Flying Dutchman in Die Fliegende Hollaender. Numerous times, Mr. Sitzler has ranked in the top three of his division in the National Association of Teachers Singing Arizona Chapter Competition. He is also a recipient of the Lloyd and Sally Hansen Singer/Actor Award of Excellence.
Last Fall, Mr. Sitzler finished his degree student teaching at Ramstein American Highschool in Ramstein, Germany for the DoDDS school system. Currently, he is studying with Dr. Jerry Doan of ASU and is planning on participating in the Metropolitan Opera Arizona Auditions in October as well as graduate opera school auditions.
